How do you know that you are living in the light?
One of the most courageous acts any human being does is to get out of bed in the morning. Each day we make a decision to either live in the light of God or give our lives to something else.It can be difficult to see the light. One only needs to turn on the television and see the devastating effects of a second earthquake in Nepal or a train derailment in Pennsylvania and wonder if there is any light to be had at all. Many of us (me included) check our email first thing in the morning and immediately begin to worry about all that may go wrong on a particular day.
This is nothing new, as people have been dealing with this feeling since the beginning of time, the feeling that some sort of darkness is right around the corner. This is the feeling that prevents us from recognizing the light of God that is always at work. The writer of 1 John makes this claim, “yet I am writing you a new commandment that is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining”.
How do you know that the light in shining in you? Join us Sunday and we will explore this idea. I hope you will feel compelled to invite someone to join you for worship at 9 AM and 11:15 AM this Sunday.
Grace and peace,
